A man has been accused of operating an illegal dental practice in the kitchen of his New York City home.
Police say Carlos Flores treated impoverished Hispanics and gave his patients wine to help them cope with the pain.
Flores was arrested after police raided his home in Peekskill, about 45 miles north of midtown Manhattan.
Police learned about the alleged illegal practice when a man who went to get treatment for a toothache ended up in hospital.
Flores was said to have broken the patient's tooth while trying to pull it out.
Police say they seized a dentist's chair, drugs and bloodstained orthodontic equipment from his kitchen.
Flores, who claims he was a licensed orthodontist in his native Ecuador, has been charged with practicing dentistry without a license.
